FPD DETECTOR ALIGNMENT

Summary of the Tasks:

-Implement a procedure for Online Alignmen of the fpd pots with respect to the beam.
       -Determine the optimal run conditions to do a Total cross section measurement .
       - Determine a procedure for using the FPD pots for a luminosity measurement in a run by run basis.

MonteCarlo for Elastic events

 
A MonteCarlo to study elastic events with the FPD spectrometer setup has been implemented. It includes the 8 vertical quadrupole and two dipole detectors. We are in the process of making all possible checks to the MonteCarlo.

MonteCarlo Studies for Alignment

 
Investigate the uncertainty  on beam position with respect to fpd pots when elastic events are used to determine the beam position.

MonteCarlo Studies for measurement of Total Cross Section

 
Study the feasibility of performing a Total Cross Section measurement using the Tevatron  injection Lattice.

Algorithm for Online alignment of fpd detectors.

 
Using elastic events one can the beam position respect to the FPD pots. if beam if offcentered we want to have an automatic procedure to
simmetrize the pot positions respect to the beam.

Procedure for total cross section and Luminosity measurement.

 
We want to do a total cross section measurement with a special low luminosity run and then have a procedure to normalize runs with normal conditions to the
low luminosity one to determine luminosity run by run.  This information will be useful to combine with the Luminosity monitor to reduce uncertainty in D0 Luminosity value.
